SCU Giveback is our community-first initiative created to support the local organizations doing meaningful work right here at home. Each month, we partner with a different nonprofit chosen by our staff, rallying together to raise awareness, lend support, and give back in ways that truly matter. It’s one more way we live out our commitment to strengthening our community, which we’re proud to be part of.
This months Featured Giveback is:
Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness
Every month, Siskiyou Credit Union chooses a local nonprofit to support through our SCU Giveback program, and this month we're proud to stand behind breast cancer awareness efforts right here in our community.
Mercy Foundation North
Mercy Foundation North helps fund the Reduced Cost Breast Cancer Imaging Program at Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. This program provides free or reduced-cost imaging, including diagnostic mammograms, biopsies, breast ultrasounds, and breast MRIs, for individuals who don't have health insurance, don't qualify for Every Woman Counts, or are facing a high deductible of $3,000 or more. Each year, this program helps roughly 15 to 20 individuals access care they might not otherwise be able to afford. Learn more at supportmercynorth.org.
Fairchild Medical Center Foundation
Fairchild Medical Center Foundation runs the Mammography Fund, which provides limited payments for mammography screenings for Siskiyou County residents. The fund helps women and men who don't qualify for other financial aid programs due to age or medical history, as well as patients who are uninsured, underinsured, or without sufficient funds to cover the cost of screening. Businesses and organizations across Siskiyou County are getting creative for a good cause, decorating their storefronts in breast cancer awareness themes as part of a county-wide competition. We will post on Facebook and Instagram assigning each participating business a number. The community gets to choose their favorites.
Voting opens October 30th on Siskiyou Credit Union's Instagram and Facebook. Just comment the number of your favorite decorated business. You can vote once per platform, so twice total. Watch for our voting post that day to see all the entries and cast your vote!
